Today was so much fun. I taught a group of twenty-one 11 and 12 year old girls. We made postcards using fabric and magazines. It’s always fun to see the reaction to our “fads.” I am sure that they think, at least in the beginning, that were are crazy. Somehow my message to bring other collage supplies did not get relayed but this is not unusual for this part of the world. I will meet with the girls again tomorrow and we will make trading cards. I shared with them my issue of Quilt Art so they have an idea. We bought playing cards the other day which we will use for the foundation. It took a while to figure out where to purchase the cards. I always find this the fun part of searching for supplies. Of course, many things are simply not available. Tomorrow I will also teach and hopefully have more sharing with other Kazakhstan quiltmakers. Many from yesterday are planning to return so I am hoping for a wonderful show and share. I love that quilts are the talk of the town! I love that quilts are changing the way women here view themselves. Life is good! Karen

Hi Karen,
Your trip sounds fabulous. Love reading about your adventures. Think how long it took
for quilts to be accepted as art. Now thanks to Karen, the Euasia quilters know about artist
trading cards and are making them! Yvonne
