I still don’t know how the Russian quiltmakers ended up in Georgia. I do know that the woman, Ludmila from St. Petersburg, giving the lecture yesterday expressed many things that I have been saying which is that Georgian quiltmakers need to make Georgian quilts not American ones. I think they may be listening more now. Nino was impressed with the exhibit but not with the quilts. I’m still waiting for pictures but I do know from the Russian quilts that I have seen that they use lots of space which we don’t. From Nino’s descriptions, this sounds true of the quilts in this exhibition. I’m thrilled that quilts seem to continue to get attention in Georgia. Also the Russian quiltmakers share similar problems and it’s nice to not be alone. I sounds like a bond was made and this can only be good for my group. There is now talk of some of the Georgian going to Moscow. I hope it happens. Here’s to the sharing taking over the world! Here’s to quilts making the world a better place! Karen
