Unsung Hero- Evelyn Salinger

I think that most people don’t realize that a cadre of volunteers make most of what The Alliance does happen. At this time, I would like to single out one volunteer from Quilters’ S.O.S. – Save Our Stories project. Evelyn Salinger has personally conducted and transcribed over 30 interviews and 21 of those interviews have been with the Daughter of Dorcas quilt group in Washington, D.C. We greatly appreciate Evelyn’s work and contribution to the Q.S.O.S. project. Please join me in thanking her too. With deepest gratitude, Karen

  1. Let me add more kudos to Evelyn. She made significant contributions to the success of The Quilters’ S.O.S. – Save Our Stories (Q.S.O.S.) exhibition project at the Virginia Quilt Museum, Harrisonburg, VA, October 8-January 30, 2006 . Coordinating the show “the Art and Soul of Quilts: Stories and Quilts Collected from Q.S.O.S. Interviews” was a huge task. Evelyn volunteered her time and efforts to contact many of the participants, arranged to get their quilts to the show, encouraged the artists to attend the opening (many did), and attended herself with friends in tow. Thank you, Evelyn. Le Rowell
